$11.95 - Microplane Grater/Zester
Product DescriptionHere's a zester that means business! You'll have a mound of zest in seconds flat with minimal effort. This tool also shreds Parmesan and other hard cheeses quickly and efficiently. For fluffy, evenly sized cheese shreds, this is the perfect grater. Its design is based on that of a rasp, the small and efficient woodworking tool. The cutters are especially sharp, which guarantees easy grating. But this also means you'll need to exercise extra caution--no one likes grated knuckles. The large handle allows for a firm grip, and the completely flat grating surface makes it easy to move the cheese across the blades. Carrots, onions, and medium to firm cheeses all worked beautifully with this grater. It's also an excellent choice for larger strips of citrus zest or ginger. --Jill Lightner
Most Recent Customer ReviewsDate : 2010-03-08 Summary : Grater I started using it the moment i received this, and it was great. I would have given it five stars but it didn't come with a plastic cover, other than that it grates very fine and is a breeze to use.
Date : 2010-03-06 Summary : Spice It Up! This one stays next to me in my sushi bar! Quality Zester that does the job and should last a long long time!
Date : 2010-03-03 Summary : Microplane Grater Excellent grating surface. I use it for nutmeg mostly but it makes a good zester, too. Comes with plyable protective case.
Date : 2010-02-11 Summary : Zesty zester I needed a zester for some recipes and went with this particular Microplane based upon the reviews, and because it had a nice handle on it (scared of skinned hands). The grater is super-sharp and works with precision; the peel practically flakes off with little pressure. It gives very fine zest. I have small hands but the handle is very comfortable and the zester overall feels sturdy. The inward curves on the sides may seem odd and seem made to trap goo, but I've found that the blade is easy to clean inside and out. I haven't tried this on cheese yet but I don't anticipate a problem. The zester comes with a thick plastic blade shield so it can go into a utinsel drawer with no worries of damage or accidental scrapeage. Great product!
Date : 2010-02-10 Summary : Well worth $12 Great for zest, nutmeg and hard cheese like Parmesan. Not another "kitchen gadget", but a useful tool,
